Mikael Wedar
Conductor, Organist
Mikael was educated at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He has a degree in conducting, piano and vocal singing. He is since 2012 employed as a church musician in the parish of Farsta in Stockholm.
During 2003-2011 Mikael was employed as a teacher at Kungsholmens gymnasium / Stockholms musikgymnasium, teaching choral singing.
He has worked as an organist and choir conductor since 1995.
Mikael has in his career worked with some of the most notable choirs in Stockholm, among them Eric Ericsson Chamber Choir and the Swedish Radio Choir.
In 2007 Mikael founded St Jacobs Youth Choir, and has been its musical and artistic leader since.
Mikael is also attending jury member in the EGP-competitions, such as Varna in Bulgaria and Tolosa in Basque country, Spain. The summer of 2018 he was part of the jury in the Bela Bartok Choir Competition in Debrecen, Hungary. In June 2022, he will be part of the jury at Florilège Vocal de Tours, in France.
Mikael has been given masterclasses. In July 2018 in Debrecen, Hungary, he taught students in conducting and interpretation at the Béla Bartók Choral Conducting Masterclass, and 2019 in Choir Accademy of Choral Conducting in San Sebastian, Basque country, Spain.”
